Dr. Lambert, B. Geraldine 1975

Dr. B. Geraldine Lambert – Head of Psychology Department is a title not easily earned or quickly bestowed. Dr. B. Geraldine Lambert is no stranger to hard work and discipline. A native of El Reno, she graduated from Shawnee High School in 1940. She earned an Associate in Arts degree from El Reno Junior College in 1942, before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at the Oklahoma College for Women in 1946. While at OCW, she was named a John Hay Fellow in Humanities by the Ford Foundation in 1964. She earned the M.Ed. in Secondary Education and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oklahoma at Norman, OK. From there she went to the University of Louisiana where she became a faculty member of the Psychology Department in 1966, with the position of Assistant Professor. She was promoted to Associate Professor and then Professor and served as Head of the Psychology Department from 1970 to 1981. She served as "Executive Officer of the Faculty Senate" and was a member of the Graduate Faculty, and several University Committees. She retired from USL in 1988. She has served as a psychology consultant in the Iberia Parish Schools, for the St. Landry Parish, and St. Martin Parish, the Lafayette Juvenile and Young Adult Program, and the penology study for the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. Dr. Lambert was senior author of a college textbook "Adolescence, Transition from Childhood to Maturity", and has published research regarding career education and psychology of adolescents. Dr. Lambert has served as counselor on projects for Oklahoma State University and University of Oklahoma, and was counselor for high schools in Oklahoma and New Mexico, also teaching in the Hobbs, New Mexico School District from 1948 to 1961.
