Former Big 12 pitcher signs with Drovers

University of Science and Arts head Baseball Coach L.J. Powell announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Brian Wyatt on Monday. Wyatt, a native of Amarillo, Texas, will join the Drovers after two seasons at Vernon College and one season at Texas Tech University.

Wyatt spent the 2005 season playing for the Red Raiders where he earned Big 12 pitcher of the week honors March 22. As a sophomore at Vernon, Texas, Wyatt posted a 6-5 record and 3.1 ERA. He earned all-state honors as a senior at Amarillo High School with an 8-4 record and a 1.85 ERA.

“If he throws like he did when I watched him against Baylor, he has a home here,” Powell said of his newest hurler. “The name of the game is missing the bat.”
