USAO Rolls Past Rangers

ENID – Bryan Jones, Ryan Brincat and Chickasha’s Russell Boswell each drove in three runs Wednesday night as the University of Science and Arts stormed past Northwestern Oklahoma State 15-7 at Enid’s David Allen Ballpark.

Brincat and Boswell did most of their damage in the Drovers’ seven-run ninth inning. Boswell kicked off the scoring in the final frame with a two-run double scoring Adam Crosbie and Joel Atchley. Later in the inning, Brincat doubled in Cody Hines, Jones and Grady Wood.

The seven-run ninth capped USAO’s six-inning domination of the Rangers after falling behind 5-1 after two innings.

NWOSU’s Scott Gurss doubled two unearned runs home in the first inning, and he later scored on an error to give the designated home team a 3-0 lead. Crosbie scored in the second for the Drovers, but NWOSU answered with two runs in the second for a 5-1 lead.

From that point, USAO controlled the game. Jake Robertson, Kris Kolar and Atchley scored in the fourth inning to close the NWOSU lead to 5-4. In the fifth, Atchley’s sacrifice fly scored Kyle Bradburry to tie the score 5-5.

The Drovers continued the onslought with three more runs in the sixth as a Crosbie double scored Brincat and Wood. Boswell also scored on an RBI single by Jones giving USAO an 8-5 lead setting up the ninth inning and the final seven runs.

USAO improved to 17-22 overall and 3-15 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. NWOSU (17-19, 6-13) is scheduled to visit Bill Smith Ballpark in the regular season finale beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
