USAO Rolls Past Rangers
ENID –
Bryan Jones, Ryan Brincat and Chickasha’s Russell Boswell each drove in
three runs Wednesday night as the University of Science and Arts stormed
past Northwestern Oklahoma State 15-7 at Enid’s David Allen Ballpark.
Brincat and
Boswell did most of their damage in the Drovers’ seven-run ninth inning.
Boswell kicked off the scoring in the final frame with a two-run double
scoring Adam Crosbie and Joel Atchley. Later in the inning, Brincat doubled
in Cody Hines, Jones and Grady Wood.
The
seven-run ninth capped USAO’s six-inning domination of the Rangers after
falling behind 5-1 after two innings.
NWOSU’s
Scott Gurss doubled two unearned runs home in the first inning, and he later
scored on an error to give the designated home team a 3-0 lead. Crosbie
scored in the second for the Drovers, but NWOSU answered with two runs in
the second for a 5-1 lead.
From that
point, USAO controlled the game. Jake Robertson, Kris Kolar and Atchley
scored in the fourth inning to close the NWOSU lead to 5-4. In the fifth,
Atchley’s sacrifice fly scored Kyle Bradburry to tie the score 5-5.
The Drovers
continued the onslought with three more runs in the sixth as a Crosbie
double scored Brincat and Wood. Boswell also scored on an RBI single by
Jones giving USAO an 8-5 lead setting up the ninth inning and the final
seven runs.
USAO
improved to 17-22 overall and 3-15 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. NWOSU
(17-19, 6-13) is scheduled to visit Bill Smith Ballpark in the regular
season finale beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
