Drovers Run-Rule Mid-America
CHICKASHA – Louie Romero’s two-run, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh completed a 12-2 run-rule win over Mid-America Christian Friday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark. Romero posted five RBIs on the day as the University of Science and Arts posted its third straight win by run-rule in two days.
USAO improved to 16-15 overall and 9-10 in the league as the team methodically scored inning after inning. The Drovers answered Mid-America’s first-inning run with two runs in the bottom of the first. USAO then scored one run in the second, third and fourth innings before the floodgates opened for five runs in the fifth.
Rickey Duke collected the complete-game win as he improved to 2-2 on the season. Duke allowed only two runs on seven hits while striking out four batters.
Dalton House finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate with four runs scored. Romero went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and five RBIs. Bryan Jones, who scored the game-ending run, went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Scott Ylda also drove in three runs and scored a run in a 2-for-3 performance.
The three-game series wraps up Saturday with a doubleheader at Mid-America beginning at 1 p.m.###
