SNU Storms Past Drovers
CHICKASHA – Four, two-out runs helped Southern Nazarene grab a quick 5-0 lead through three innings and cruise to a 14-1 victory over the University of Science and Arts Friday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark. SNU ripped seven USAO pitchers for 19 hits and seven extra-base hits.
Brian Hunnicutt got his 11th start of the season but was credited with the loss after giving up six earned runs through three innings. Matt Sopic, Bill Boss, Ken Wieda and Alfonso Cardenas combined for four scoreless innings before SNU posted seven runs in the eighth.
SNU’s Seth Marchant allowed only six hits while striking out six batters in his six complete game win of the season.
USAO, 12-11 overall and 7-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, struggled to score runs after the high of knocking off No. 5 Oklahoma City last week. SNU improved to 23-7 overall and 11-2 in the league.
The series wraps up with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. in Bethany.###
