How to scan your office computer with Panda Anti-Virus:

Your office computer (only Windows PCs, not Macs) here at USAO has got Panda Anti-Virus installed on it. At all times, Panda is running in the background scanning for viruses. Although this automatic real-time scanning is constant and thorough, sometimes a file on your computer might get infected by a virus behind-the-scenes so to speak, and consequently escape real-time detection. For this reason, it is recommended to run a manual virus scan of your computer at least once a month, to make sure that every possible file is checked for viruses.

Here’s how:

  • Right-click with your mouse on the little Panda face icon on the bottom right hand corner of your screen (near the clock on the taskbar). You will see a little menu box pop up with four choices. See screenshot below (Figure 1):

  • If you don't see the Panda icon next to the clock on the taskbar, please click on the little arrow to show your hidden icons. See screenshot below (Figure 2):

  • After that, left-click with your mouse on “Scan all My Computer”. Panda AV will start scanning all areas of your computer for viruses. See screenshot below (Figure 3):

  • The whole procedure shouldn’t take you longer than 30 minutes (just under an hour at the very most depending on how many files you have on your computer).

  • If any viruses are found during the scan, they will be automatically dealt with. I recommend leaving the computer alone while the manual scan is running.

As always, please feel free to call Information Services if you have any questions or doubts.
