Alexander Named Player of the Week
After averaging a double-double and winning three straight games last week, senior forward DeAngelo Alexander was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The University of Science and Arts rolled off three straight wins over Oklahoma Christian, Wayland Baptist and Lubbock Christian to improve to 10-9 overall and 6-7 in the league.
Alexander sat out the fall semester, but he has given the Drovers a huge lift after losing six straight before and after the holiday break. The Chicago native scored a career-high 21 points in a loss at Northwestern Oklahoma and followed that with a new career-high 22 points and 16 rebounds in a win over No. 22 Wayland Baptist Thursday.
Through nine games Alexander is averaging 13.2 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
USAO is looking for its fourth straight win Thursday night as the Drovers host Mid-America Christian. Thursday is White Headband Night at USAO Fieldhouse, and the first 200 fans will receive a free headband as the Drovers try to avenge an earlier loss to MACU and move toward the top of the conference standings.###
