USAO Runs Past LCU
LUBBOCK, Texas – Led by Marcus Hines’ 26 points and a double-double from
Jose Nava, the University of Science and Arts pushed past a pesky Lubbock
Christian team 78-68 Thursday night on the road.
Hines
led all scorers while Nava posted a game-high for rebounds as the Drovers
snapped a three-game losing streak despite being down 31-30 at halftime.
USAO
struggled from beyond the arc, only hitting 2-of-14 for the game, but the
team still converted 48.4 percent overall. LCU helped its cause by
grabbing 21 offensive rebounds, but in the end, the Drovers just hit too
many shots.
Hines
scored his 26 points on 9-of-19 shooting and 8-of-9 from the free-throw
line. Nava finished with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and 13 rebounds.
Avery Stevenson scored 11 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out
three assists, and Stanley Bolden, who didn’t commit a turnover all night
from the point guard position, finished with 10 points, five boards, one
assist and two steals.
USAO
improved to 12-15 on the season and 8-9 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The team is tied for sixth place with Southern Nazarene with one game
remaining at No. 21 Wayland Baptist at 3 p.m. Saturday. SNU hosts John
Brown Saturday night as well, and JBU is hot off a 79-70 win over No. 6
Oklahoma Baptist.
