Men Win Second of the
Season
CHICKASHA – Avery Stevenson and Jose Nava put on a
show and silenced a ruckus, visiting crowd as the University of Science
and Arts shot its way to an 83-70 win over Langston Saturday night at USAO
Fieldhouse.
The two combined for 51 points and eight assists
helping the Drovers improve to 2-1 on the season. The win was a fond
farewell for the team as they take to the road for seven games over the
next two months. The next home game for the men will be Jan. 7.
Stevenson’s 24 points – a dozen coming on
three-pointers – helped USAO consistently break Langston’s high-pressure
defense. Nava, who added 14 rebounds for his third straight double-double
to start the season, dished out five assists to go with his 24 points.
As a team, USAO hit 52 percent from the floor
including 35 percent from three-point land. Add 71 percent from the
charity stripe, and the Drovers literally shot Langston out of the gym.
The men begin their two-month long road trip
Thursday in Stephenville, Texas. There, the team will two games at the
Tarleton State Classic.
