Drovers Earn National Honors

OLATHE, Kan. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released its list of 2005 Soccer All-Americans this week, and the University of Science and Arts had four players honored.

After another championship season, a 14-4-1 record and a top-25 national ranking, three players from the men’s team were named All-Americans led by Adam Day. Day, a junior from Kent, England, was named Third Team All-American after scoring 18 goals with 16 assists and having three games with three goals.

Jonathan Oman, a sophomore from Bury St. Edmund’s, England, was named Honorable Mention All-American for the second consecutive season. Oman scored two goals and added five assists, but he anchored a defense that only allowed 19 goals in 19 games this season and only one goal in the final four games.

Solidifying the Drovers’ run through the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament was freshman goalkeeper Shane Flanagan. Flanagan was named Honorable Mention All-American as he only allowed three goals on the season and posted five shutouts including three straight in the SAC tournament.

For the women, a hometown player was honored as Jessie Brown, a junior from Chickasha, was named 2005 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Soccer All-America Scholar-Athlete. Brown posted four goals and three assists on the season as the USAO women finished the season 8-9-2.
