Drovers Slip Past Oklahoma Christian

CHICKASHA - It’s usually only a guessing game.

The University of Science and Arts’ Shane Flanagan guessed right on the first shot attempt of Saturday’s 1-0 shootout win over Oklahoma Christian in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.

The freshman goalkeeper’s diving deflection of Adam Ziegler’s shot attempt turned out to be the difference as No. 23 USAO won by connecting on all five attempts in the third overtime to win.

USAO’s Jonathan Oman, Adam Day, Danny Rodriguez, Tom Hubbard and Bello Illiassou scored during the shootout. With the 1-0 win, USAO advances into the SAC Tournament semifinals Tuesday against Oklahoma Baptist. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Shawnee.

OBU advanced to the semifinals by beating St. Gregory’s 3-2 in overtime Saturday. OBU, the No. 2 seed in the tournament and No. 11 in the country, won it’s earlier meeting with the Drovers 2-1 in overtime.
