USAO Pushes Back, Wins 4-2

CHICKASHA – With two sets of scores coming just minutes apart, the University of Science and Arts fended off Oklahoma Christian’s upset bid Saturday afternoon at Drover Field with a 4-2 win.

No. 12 USAO gave up more shots on goal against and goals scored than any game this season. OC got off 13 total shots and six on goal as the Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute off Brady Nikkel’s goal from the right side.

Down by a goal, USAO responded on a direct kick in the 20th minute. Tommy Hubbard scored his fourth goal in two games off passes from Jonathan Oman and Adam Day to tie the score at 1-1. Later in the half, NeNe Coulibally scored on another pass from Adam Day from the left side to give the Drovers its first lead at 2-1.

OC tied the score 2-2 in the 74th minute when Matt Clark found the back of the net.

Joseph Oballa gave the Drovers the lead again in the 82nd minute on a goal from Adam Day rerouted by Rafael da Silva. Minutes later Wesley Costa scored the game’s final goal on a pass from Coulibally.

USAO improved to 7-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference. OC fell to 5-2-1, 1-1-1. The Drovers continue league play at Oklahoma City Tuesday night. The games begin at 6 p.m.
