Drovers Turned Away in Loss
OLATHE, Kan. – Two early goals proved to be too much to overcome as the University of Science and Arts dropped its first game of the Pioneer Invitational to Missouri Valley College 3-1. USAO will wrap up the week with Friday’s game against the host team MidAmerica Nazarene University at 5 p.m.

Missouri Valley posted two goals in the first 10 minutes of the first half to go ahead 2-0. USAO countered with a goal from Dusan Rasovic on an assist from Nikola Cakarevic as the Drovers took a 2-1 deficit into halftime.

In the second half, USAO pounded out shot after shot trying to make up the one goal difference. But each time, the Drovers were turned away by goalie saves and team saves twice.

The most crushing save for USAO came on a break away as Terry Adamson got past the last two defenders and past the goalie who came out of the goal to break up the play. A MVC player trailing for most of the play made up ground and managed to deflect Adamson’s shot. A similar story played out several more times as USAO came away empty handed on multiple corner kicks and break aways.

MVC netted an insurance goal in the 88th minute on a counter that iced the game.
