BARRETT-DARNELL, Olga E. Barrett-Darnell

        Funeral services for Olga Edward Mabry Barrett-Darnell, age 94 and a longtime Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ on Custer Avenue in Clinton with minister Pat Peters officiating. Burial will conclude in the Altus Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Darnell died late Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in Clinton.
        She was born June 22, 1911, in Gainesboro, Tenn., the daughter of Dr. E. W. and Clyde Eula (Harris) Mabry. Reared in the Altus area, she graduated from high school in Altus in l929. She continued her education at Abilene Christian College for one year and graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in l933.
        She married Guy Barrett that same year and began teaching school in Marlow. They moved to Clinton in l941 to operate the Texaco distribution plant. During World War II, her husband served in the Pacific while Olga ran the business, delivering gas to local farmers and retail stations. After Guys death due to cancer in l951, she began working at the Clinton Chamber of Commerce with Ted Savage. In 1959 Olga married J.W. Darnell, a local oil and gas lease broker. He preceded her in death in l995. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Worthwhile Club, past president of P.E.O., Junior Service League, Business and Professional Women and bridge clubs.
        Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.Survivors include a daughter, Paula Tennant and her husband, Don, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Kerri Windel of Chicago, Ill., Angie Dudley of St. Augustine, Fla., Barrett Tennant of Jacksonville, Fla., Clayton Tennant of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; a great-grandson, Hunter Dudley of St. Augustine, Fla.; and a brother, Dr. E. H. Mabry of Enid. The family will greet friends at the funeral home in downtown Clinton tonight between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.The family suggested that memorial contributions may be made in Olgas honor to the charity of the donors choice.
