BELANGER, Elleen B. Belanger

        Elleen B. Belanger, of Oklahoma City, died Friday, August 11, 2006 in Oklahoma City. Elleen was born November 23, 1912 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Herman G. H. Bollenbach and Elsie Maass Bollenbach.
        Elleen was a graduate of Kingfisher High School, class of 1930 and in 1934 she received her degree from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha where she studied music and education. She taught school in Osage County where she met and married L. J. 'Bell"" Belanger, who preceded her in death.
        Elleen and Bell moved to Guymon, Oklahoma in 1945 where she lived until moving to Oklahoma City in 1998. In Guymon Elleen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served first as pianist, and then organist for over 30 years. She also was accompanist for numerous local dance recitals and vocal performances. She was a dedicated school teacher and counted the children who passed through her elementary classes as extended family. The monthly publication of her third grade class newspaper was a school highlight. Elleen was an avid bridge player and was a regular at the local bridge clubs. Elleen was a 50 year member of Chapter AM, P.E.O. During her retirement, her time was taken up with reading, playing bridge, visiting her children, and extensive travel including multiple trips to Europe, Africa, the Holy Land and the Caribbean.
        She is survived by her two sons, Michael Belanger and wife Sarah of Oklahoma City and Steven B. Belanger of Bartlesville; grandchildren, Tanya Soli of Santa Ana, California, Brent Belanger of Oklahoma City, Madison Belanger of Norman, Dr. Yasmin Lake of Los Angeles, California, Christine Durney of Washington, D.C., and Katie Belanger and Margo Belanger of Menasha, Wisconsin, and seven great-grandchildren. Elleen was preceded in death by her daughter Ann E. Durney.
        Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Guymon with Rev. James A. Jacobson, pastor, officiating. Internment of cremains will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, c/o Henson-Novak funeral Directors, Box 1306, Guymon OK 73942.
