Eugenia
Reynolds Briscoe of Madison died Sunday, May 23rd, 2004 at Crestood
Hospital. She was a resident of Madison for the past 11 years and lived in
Corpus Christi, Texas, for 40 years. She was a resident of Valley View
Rehabilitation Center in Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Curtis G. Briscoe in 1981.
She received her Ph.D. from the
University of Denver, M.A. from Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas, and her
B.S.S. from Oklahoma College for Women. She was a public school teacher and
college professor, and was director of Department of Vocational Education for
the state of Wyoming. She was night editor of Eldorado News, Eldorado, Ark. She
was a member of the First Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a
Sunday school teacher there for several years. She was a member of Phi Alpha
Theta (attainment in field of history) and member of Official Bicentennial
Committee, Nueces County, Corpus Christi, Texas. She was also a member of Nueces
County Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, American
Association of University Women, Texas Retired Teachers Association and Corpus
Christi Symphony Guild. She was the Author of ""History of Corpus
Christi, Texas 1519-1875"" and this later became a textbook for the
school system of Nueces County.
Survivors include her son, William G.
""Bill"" Clark and wife Sue of Madison; grandsons, William
R. Clark of New Iberia, La., and Michael D. Clark of San Antonio, Texas; three
great-granddaughters; and one sister, Mary Louise Bailey of North Little Rock,
Ark. Funeral service will be held on Thursday. Arrangments are being handled by
Seaside Funeral Home, Corpus Christi, Texas and local arrangments are being
handled by Spry Funeral Home. Burial will be at Seaside Memorial Park. Memorial
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
