CUTTING, Edythe M. Cutting

        Edythe May Cutting passed away on July 24, 2006 at the age of 95. She was born in Hawley, Oklahoma on January 9, 1911. Education was Edythe Cutting's legacy. She graduated from Consolidated High School in 1927, attended the Oklahoma College for Women, and spent four years teaching in the rural elementary schools of Oklahoma.
        Edythe married Dr. Leland H. Kepford on January 25, 1935. One son, Leland H. Kepford, Jr. was born April 20, 1936. The marriage ended in divorce in 1952.Edythe graduated from Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma in 1947. She then taught 10 years in elementary and junior high schools in Oklahoma before coming to California in 1954. She attended Sacramento State University, and later an extension of the University of Nevada. Edythe married Edward F. Cutting in June of 1956. The couple made their home in Sacramento until 1966, when they built their retirement home in Elk Grove. Edythe taught 18 years for the Sacramento City Unified School District. After her retirement, Edythe continued to do volunteer work for the Elk Grove Branch of the Sacramento County Library, and the South Sacramento Kaiser Health Clinic.
        Edythe was preceded in death by her husband Edward in May, 1973, and her son Leland in November, 1975. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Edward L. Kepford and wife Lisa of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kristine Kepford Buckingham and husband Kenneth of Austin, Texas, and Stephen H. Kepford and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Edythe is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane Kepford of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and seven great grandchildren.
        A closed casket visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and from 8:30 am to 10:00 am on August 4 at South East Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 4, 2006, with interment immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
