
DIXON, Ila J. Dixon
Memorial service for Ila Joan Dixon, 76, Lawton, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at
First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frankye A. Johnson, pastor,
officiating. Mrs. Dixon died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at a local hospital.
Private family entombment will be at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset
Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
She was
born March 3, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., to Bobbie and Arnold H. White. She and
her parents moved to Lawton from Texas when she was a young girl. She helped her
parents with their restaurant business. She graduated from Lawton High School in
1946. She married William Tell "Bill" Dixon on June 8, 1947, at Centenary United
Methodist Church. He died April 4, 2005. She attended Cameron College and
graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She
taught at Eisenhower Junior High School for 26 years. She was a member of First
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Michael R. Dixon, Lawton; a
daughter, Debra J. Hess, Okmulgee; and three grandchildren: Aaron M. Dixon,
Beverly Hills, Calif.; Lauren Hess, Boston; and Joan Hess, Tulsa. She was
preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to First
