Kathryn (Hayes) Dillard
Kathryn Dillard, 82, formerly of Sioux City died
Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center in
Mechanicsville, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday July 2nd
at St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Bernie
Colorado officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will
be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under
the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, formerly Nelson-Berger
Morningside Chapel.
Kathryn was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Sioux
City to William D. and Georginia Hayes. She attended Central High School before
graduating from high school in Oklahoma City, Okla. She attended the Oklahoma
College for Women for two years.
She married Ralph Dillard in 1943 at San
Antonio, Texas. She returned to Sioux City in 1957 and worked as a secretary and
receptionist until retirement in 1987. Kathryn was the friendly face greeting
patients of Dr. W.C. Boden and later, patients of Dr. Cecil Cunningham. She also
worked part-time at Sears after retiring.
She was a member of First Baptist Church
and later St. James. She enjoyed activities with her friends in the Miercoles
Club, the Floyd Park Women's Golf Association and the Maple Heights bingo.
Survivors include her son, Denver and his
wife, Carol of Mount Vernon, Iowa; her grandchildren, Sarah Miller and her
husband, Andrew of Nashville, Tenn. and John of Carbondale, Ill.; cousins, Joe
Hedeen of Cape Coral, Fla. and Martha Haskell of Sioux City; and a loving niece,
Barbara Fulton of Bethany, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; an aunt, Clara Hanson; two brothers, William and Lawrence; and a
grandson, Thomas Dillard.
