
FARRILL, Mary E.
Mary E. Farrill, 95, of Joplin, Mo., died April 15, 2005. Funeral service for Mary Elizabeth Farrill, will be at 11 a.m.,
Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church, Chelsea, with Pastor
Mark Lyon officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of
Chelsea Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home
from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A
reception in honor of Mary will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 20,
in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church, 6th and Pearl, Joplin, Mo.
Mary died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Spring River Christian
Village, Joplin, Mo., at the age of 95. The daughter of Homer A. and Bertha
Frakes was born March 12, 1910, in Chelsea. She graduated from Chelsea High
School in 1927. Mary attended Oklahoma College for Women, Oklahoma State
University and received her bachelor s degree in education from Northeastern
State College.
She met her husband, Keese (Hoss) Farrill, while she was a
student working at the campus library. They were married Oct. 27, 1935, in
Claremore, Okla. Mary and Hoss were both teachers in the Chelsea school system
for a combined total of 79 years of service. Mary lived in Chelsea for 80 years
before moving to Carl Junction, Mo., to live closer to her son and
grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Chelsea,
Oklahoma and National Education Associations, Eastern Stars, and Delphian Review
Club.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hoss, in 1989 and
sons, Robert Lee and Homer Austin Farrill. Survivors include son, Beauford Buck
and his wife, Vicki grandchildren, Kellee Uber and husband, Ray, Blake Farrill
and wife, Amanda, Jamie Farrill, Sandra Bennett and husband, Leland, Robert
Farrill and wife, Kaoru Farrill, Jim, Todd and Don Farrill daughter-in-law, Nobu
Farrill sister, Betty Underwood and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial
