NORMAN -- Beloved wife,
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and kind and caring friend, Margaret
Storsand Feaver passed away on May 29, 1999, at the age of 85.
She is the mother of Dr.
John Feaver, vice president of academic affairs, at the University of Science
and Arts in Chickasha.
The daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Bjorn and Marie Storsand, she was born
Nov. 12, 1913, in Marysville, Calif., and, with brief exception, lived most of
her early life in central California. In
1936, she married John Clayton Feaver of Fowler, Calif.
From Berkeley, they moved to New Haven, Conn., then to Berea, Ky., for
several years and finally to Norman, Okla., in 1951.
A splendid pianist, Margaret Feaver was a longtime member of the Norman Music
Club. She also was an avid and
knowledgeable gardener. She and
husband Clayton were members of Wabunaki. She
belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Norman and over the years was an
elder and deacon, sang in the choir and on occasion played the organ.
After raising three children and a husband, in later life she earned a
bachelor’s degree through the College of Liberal Studies at the University of
Oklahoma. For over 40 years, she
and husband Clayton were active participants in the social and cultural life of
the university and Norman communities.
Her leaving is preceded by a brother, Ralph Storsand of Montrose, Colo., and by
her husband of 59 years, Clayton.
Her continuing family includes two sisters, Gudrun Lockhead of Oakland, Calif.,
and Helen Robinson of Milwaukee, Wis.; two daughters, Ellen Feaver and Elaine
Witten of Norman; a son, John Feaver of Chickasha; a son-in-law, Tom Lucas of
Norman; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Feaver of Chickasha; six grandchildren,
Joshua Blyden, Matthew Feaver and Emily Witten of Norman; James Feaver and Medea
Garcia of Chickasha, and Joshua Glass of Oklahoma City; and one
great-granddaughter, Katy Garcia of Chickasha.
The family requests that remembrances of Margaret take the form of support for
hospice services.
