BERTRANG, Carol J. (Pruitt)

Carol Jo Pruitt Bertrang passed away Aug. 25, 2009 in Los Angeles after a brief illness. Carol was born May 1, 1941 to Cletus Gerald and Henriella Hudspeth Pruitt in Los Angeles. She married Kennedy Bertrang on Sept. 15, 1973 in Dallas, and they moved to Los Angeles in 1976. Carol was the granddaughter of the late F.C. and Ruby Thompson Ridgway of Marietta, Okla. and the niece of the late Dr. Donivan L. Ridgway of Dallas.

She graduated from high school in Marietta in 1959 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. Carol graduated from the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Baylor Dental College in Dallas. She was a licensed dental hygienist. Her love and avocation was painting and she was beautifully accomplished in oil and pastel. Carol was a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists.

She is survived by her husband Ken Bertrang of Tujunga, Calif.; sisters, Gail Pruitt of Jamestown, Ky. and Lynne Sprague and family of Carmichael, Calif.; aunt, Heloise Ridgway of Dallas; cousins, Beverly Wilson of Marietta, Barbara Ridgway of Dallas, Dr. Don Ridgway of Dallas; mother-in-law, Myrtle Bertrang of Evant, Texas and the Bertrang family; and many friends and colleagues. A memorial may be held at a later date. Carol loved and was loved, and we will miss having her with us.
