HOLCOMB, Irma Rae (Lumley)

Irma Rae Holcomb Graveside service for Irma Rae Holcomb, age 85, of Chickasha, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Don Horton will officiate.

Irma Rae Holcomb was born the daughter of John Ingels Lumley and Irpel Curtis Lumley on February 28, 1919, in Hennessey, Oklahoma. She died on September 4, 2004, in Chickasha.

Irma grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. She received her college degree from Oklahoma College for Women, then went on to receive a Masters Degree in English.

Irma married Curtis Holcomb on June 14, 1941, in Chickasha while she was still in school.

Her husband entered the service during World War II, and she remained in Chickasha. Irma lived in Chickasha most of her life. During this time she worked as an administrative assistant at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, ran the county surveyors office during her husbands term, in office, and worked on the election board.

Irma was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Inez Lumley, a brother, Irvin Lumley, and a son, John Holcomb.

Survivors include: Husband: Curtis Laverne Holcomb of Chickasha Granddaughter: Erin Holcomb of Conroe, Texas Grandson Curtis Lynn Holcomb of Conroe, Texas Other family and friends Services will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
