INGERSOL, Lillian Nadine (Browning)
Lillian Nadine (Browning) Ingersol of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in her sleep February 14, 2013. She was born in Amber, Oklahoma, September 12, 1924, to parents Lilly Baxter Browning and Edward E. Browning. She was one of eleven Browning children raised in the Pocasset, Oklahoma community.
She received her elementary education at several rural schools including Arcadia school in the Friendship Community area. She graduated with honors from Pocasset High School. Lillian attended college at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois, OCW in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Bethany Peniel College now named Southern Nazarene University, in Bethany, Oklahoma and University of Central Oklahoma where she studied art. Lillian met the love of her life at Bethany Peniel College. She married Carl Ingersol in 1946. Carl was a minister of the Gospel for the Nazarene denomination. Lillian was a great help mate to her husband in his ministry.
She was a skilled vocalist, pianist, piano teacher and choral director. She used her talents for the church and community. In her young adult years she sang in the Browning Sisters quartet representing the Hartford Press Music company. She and her sisters were trained in Hartford, Arkansas to advertise the music company on the radio and community concert.
As a pastor's wife Lillian felt called to teach young married couple's Sunday school classes and lead prayer meetings and ladies groups in her home. During their ministry together, Lillian and Carl were blessed with two children; son Stephen Carl Ingersol, and daughter Rhonda Gaye Ingersol. Lillian was a devoted mother and teacher to her children.
Lillian left her creative legacy on her world with her beautiful oil paintings. She drew inspiration for her paintings from the many varieties of roses in her flower garden. Lillian devoted many years to gathering genealogical information about the Browning family. She and Carl traveled extensively to retrace her Browning heritage. She published her book and presented it to her family members as well as to the Oklahoma State Genealogy Archives, Fort Wayne, Indiana Genealogy Library and the National Library of Congress.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister. Lillian is survived by her husband Reverend Carl Ingersol, son Reverend Stephen Ingersol and wife Cynthia (Harris) Ingersol of Monument, Colorado, daughter Rhonda Ingersol-Carr, her husband Gregory Carr, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren are Ryan Ingersol, Denver, Colorado, Colin Ingersol and wife Ashley of Norman, Oklahoma, Brenna Ingersol of New York City, New York, Gabriel Carr and Avery Ingersol-Carr of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, sister Reatha (Browning) Adams, brother-in-law Reverend Glen Adams of Kansas City, Kansas, Elsie (Browning) Grout of Aiken, South Carolina, sister Donna Ruth (Browning) Moore, brother-in-law Reverend Doctor Darrell Moore of Spring Arbor Michigan, brother Edward E. Browning, sister-in-law Loretta Jean (Woolman) Browning of Copan, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian's sincerest prayer in life and the desire of her heart was that her children and grandchildren would have a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and covenant together to meet again in Heaven.
