MUSTION, Iris E. (Graham)

Iris Elaine (Graham) Mustion died on July 31, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born to Sally Wright and Reuben Graham on July 31, 1920 in Pauls Valley. Iris was the seventh of eight children.

Her father was a Methodist minister and the family frequently moved during her adolescent years. She attended eleven different schools and graduated from Snyder High School in May 1938.

Iris attended college at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. After graduation in May 1942, she began her teaching career in Tipton. As World War II began, she temporarily left the teaching profession to participate in the war effort. Iris relocated to Astoria, Oregon in March 1944 to marry Granville Elbert Mustion serving in the Navy assigned to the U.S.S. Lexington.

Granville was eventually transferred to Lake Farragut Naval Station in Idaho and was discharged in 1946. They relocated to Del City where they raised two children and spent their adult lives together until Granville's death in May 1971.

Iris taught social studies at Monroney Junior High School in Midwest City until her retirement in May 1982. She was a charter member of Sunnylane United Methodist Church.

She later relocated to Yukon in 1994 to reside in Spanish Cove Retirement Village and joined the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Mustang where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Iris was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Vernon Graham, Seburn Graham, and George Graham; sisters: Vera Mustion, Rachel Davis, Cletys John, and Nelora Graham; and grandson Jeffrey Mustion.

She is survived by her son Alan Mustion and wife Mary and daughter Gaye Fite and husband Mike. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Jennifer Mustion, Rhonda Carlton, and Randy Fite and four great-grandchildren: Kyla Mustion, Josh Carlton, Kendall Fite, and Collin Fite.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, August 6, 2012 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel in Del City with interment to follow at Sunnylane Cemetery.
