ESTHER HODGES REGAN (Age 90) A retired Prince Georges County School Teacher, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 of cardio-respiratory failure at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, MD. Mrs. Regan was born in Pratt, Kansas in 1918. After receiving her elementary and secondary schooling there she attended the Oklahoma College for Women and received her degree. She then joined the Women’s Army Corps and was stationed at Fort Myer, VA during World War II. During this time she met and married Staff Sgt. Philip A. Regan of the U.S. Army Air Corps. The couple then moved to Adelphi, MD. Mrs.
Ramsey, Esta Lee Esta Lee Ramsey, only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Fitzgerald, had four brothers, Joe, Floyd, C.N. and Loy. All have preceded her in death except brother, Loy Fitzgerald and wife Connie. Esta Lee Ramsey leaves a son, Dr. Steve Ramsey and wife, Lynda and grandsons Ben and Bart Ramsey, who brightened her life.
Elsie Marie Boothe-Hoover passed away in the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 following a short illness. Elsie Marie had made her home at Bradford Village Retirement Center in Edmond for the past four years. She had moved to Edmond from Chickasha, Oklahoma to be close to her son, Dwain and his wife Sylvia and her sister, Maybelle Coffman, who was in the nursing home in Edmond. Mrs. Coffman passed away two weeks after Elsie Marie's move. Elsie Marie had an apartment in the same Retirement Community for two years before moving into Bradford Village Nursing Home.
Eloise Lucia Penoi Schafer, age 94, a 66 year resident of Needles, Calif., passed away quickly Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Bullhead City. Mrs. Schafer was born Dec. 30, 1913, near Anadarko, Okla. to Mark Penoi (a Pueblo Indian from Laguna) and Eloise Butler Reese Penoi (a Cherokee of the Aniwodi Paint Clan). Upon graduation from Oklahoma College for Women, Mrs. Schafer taught several years at Albuquerque Indian School. After her marriage in 1938 to George Schafer, she devoted herself to raising her family and actively supporting the Needles community.
Elma Iles Robson, Ponca City resident, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at her home. She was 91. Elma Robson was born July 13, 1918, in Prague, the daughter of Frank and Nettie Hull Iles. She attended schools in Prague and graduated from Prague High School. Her parents and grandparents were pioneer Oklahomans. Her grandfather, Harry C. Iles, was a physician who came to Oklahoma from Kansas. Her grandparents who encouraged her in her love of music raised Elma. At age 15 Elma played the piano for silent movies at the Prague Theater.
Ella Minnie McDaniel, 90, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 in Sayre. Services will be Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Granite United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Hilton and Rev. Wendell Harris will officiate. Burial will be at the Brinkman Cemetery under the direction of PeopleÆs Co-operative Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Ella Lahoma Coates, 64, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Baptist East with Pastor Danny El Kouri of Word Alive Church, Lawton, Pastor Nick Lovenburg, of Freedom Church, Lawton and Pastor Randy Sullivan, Duncan officiating. Mrs. Coates died Tuesday at her home after a short courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. Burial will be in the Duncan City Cemetery, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born Sept.
ELIZABETH G. MARETT, LIZ 98, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Liz was born on March 19, 1910 in Warren, Arkansas, to Roy and Beatrice Guest. The second of five children, she grew up in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, helping her parents in their clothing stores. She attended Business College and Oklahoma College for Women before moving to Houston where she started her career with Anderson Clayton & Co. Liz loved life. She loved raising her boys, her family life, and people.
Funeral service for Elizabeth Ann Nelson, 62, of Chickasha, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in the New Life Christian Church. The Rev. Ezell Nelson will officiate. Ann was born the daughter of Harry Maricle and Dorothy Jones Maricle on July 17, 1947, in Tulsa. She died on Dec. 29, 2009, in Oklahoma City due to a seven-month battle with complications from diabetes. Ann graduated from Chickasha High School in 1965 and later graduated from OCLA, now USAO. She taught school at the Intermediate School and at Friend School.
Gragg, Elenore Elizabeth McNeese Elenore Elizabeth McNeese Gragg was born November 26, 1915 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of James A. and Louise Harbaugh McNeese. She died July 26, 2007 at Oklahoma Methodist Manor in Tulsa at the age of 91. Elizabeth attended Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. She was a graduate of Oklahoma City University with a BA degree and received a lifetime Oklahoma Teachers Certificate issued in 1942. After two years as a kindergarten teacher in the Tulsa Public Schools, she married Owen Gragg and became a homemaker.
