CHICKASHA – With residence halls opening in anticipation of returning students, spring classes begin Friday at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.
CHICKASHA – A dazzling display of art by state and national artists is coming to Chickasha when the “Oklahoma: Centerfold” exhibit reaches the University of Science and Arts on Jan. 14. The biennial juried art exhibit is hosted alternately by USAO and the Leslie Powell Gallery and Foundation of Lawton.
Displayed in the USAO Art Gallery through Feb. 9, “Centerfold” features more than 40 original pieces by 31 artists from across the nation. Fifteen artists represent different Oklahoma communities.
CHICKASHA – Five colorful Native storybooks are scheduled for special delivery in the form of a new box set – just in time for the holidays. On Dec. 20, “Winter Night Stories and Songs” will go on sale in the University of Science and Arts Bookstore.
CHICKASHA – While many will ring in the New Year in the comfort of their homes, the ShowBand of the University and Science and Arts will be rockin’ the stage with legendary pop sensations, the Platters. On Dec. 31, the USAO ShowBand will open for the Platters at 8 p.m. in the Te Ata Memorial Auditorium in Troutt Hall.
Joe Settlemires, director and music arranger for the USAO ShowBand, said his ensemble of college students is one of a kind.
CHICKASHA – Cash prizes, public exhibition and multiple awards are up for grabs for the winners of next year’s Innovations high school art competition at the University of Science and Arts. The liberal arts university is announcing registration for the annual art contest at the end of February.
