USAO Commencement Honors 116

More than 1,500 people attended Friday night’s commencement in two ceremonies at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma – the sixth time a two-ceremony schedule has been used to alleviate overcrowding in Te Ata Memorial Auditorium.

Presiding over the ceremony was Dr. John Feaver, president of the university.

USAO initiates 21 into freshman honor society

Exceptional first year students at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma were honored April 15 as they were initiated into Alpha Lambda Delta – a national honor society for college freshmen.

The luncheon honored 21 students at the college.

USAO Minerva Awards highlight student achievement

Students at the University of Science and Arts were honored for a variety of achievements during the eighth annual Minerva Awards ceremony at the USAO Ballroom April 10.

The Minerva Awards provide public recognition for outstanding students at USAO. Students are honored for excellence in academics, community service, athletics, campus involvement and other areas.

USAO Showband hosts dance at Elks Lodge

The Showband will take its polished big band sound off campus for a dance scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 18 at the Chickasha Elks Lodge.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Elks Lodge is located at 1818 Country Club Drive.

The USAO Showband performs under the direction of Joe Settlemires.

USAO Concert Choir to perform

The USAO Concert Choir will present a performance of choral music, ranging from sixteenth-century Renaissance madrigals to new music by young composers. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, in the Alumni Chapel at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

The concert will also feature pieces conducted by student directors.

The choir will perform under the direction of Dr. Jan Hanson, professor of music.
