Storms Flood USAO

Strong winds and a deluge of spring rain took their toll on campus trees and buildings at USAO. Buildings flooded, whole trees snapped and employees found themselves without power early on May 7. By 9 a.m., power had returned and crews were out cleaning up broken branches and running sump pumps to drain flooded buildings. A plugged roof drain in Sparks Hall dormitory caused carpet damage on three floors and three buildings received minimal water damage. School officials estimate nearly 90 hours of labor are necessary to dispose of the downed trees and branches and repair other damage. This large tree was uprooted between the Stevens Alumni House and the Greek Theatre.
