Mildren’s first earned statewide headlines as a star quarterback at the University of Oklahoma. He earned both All-American and Academic All-American honors. Mildren put his petroleum land management degree to use by working for an independent oil and gas company. During his first three years, he also played football in the National Football League for the Baltimore Colts and the New England Patriots. In 1979 Mildren and a partner started Regency Exploration, which ultimately was sold to a Fortune 500 company. This allowed Mildren to enter Oklahoma politics, where he was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1990. Later Mildren became president and CEO of Pre-Paid Legal Services. In recent years, he has led companies in the energy and software industries. In 2003, Mildren was named Vice Chairman of Arvest Bank in Oklahoma City. Mildren and his wife, Janis, have two adult, married children and one granddaughter. |
