Softball Takes Third in TexasSAN ANGELO, Texas – Morgan Skelley blasted a two-run, sixth-inning homerun, and Kindra Gregory fired a three-hitter striking out five batters as the University of Science and Arts pounded Eastern New Mexico 7-1 to capture third place at this weekend’s Angelo State Classic. USAO scored six runs in the final two at bats to break the game open and take down the NCAA Division II team for the second time in two days. The Drovers improved to 3-1 on the season with the lone loss coming to the host team Angelo State in the semifinals Sunday morning. In the semifinal game, Skelley scored the first and only run for the Drovers in the top of the first inning, but ASU – ranked No. 3 in the region – used a two-run second inning to collect the go-ahead runs. After concluding tournament play in the Angelo State Classic on Sunday, the team is off until Feb. 20 when they travel to Weatherford to play Southwestern Oklahoma at 1 p.m. ### |
