USAO Rolls over SNU

CHICKASHA – Three homeruns highlighted a day that saw the University of Science and Arts improve to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Drovers handled Southern Nazarene 2-0 and 10-0 Saturday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.

Saturday’s games marked the fourth straight shutout for the Drovers as the team started SAC play with 8-0 and 6-0 wins over Oklahoma Christian on Friday.

Senior Dana Askins put her stamp on the second game against SNU by throwing a one-hit shutout and going 3-for-3 at the plate with two homers and five RBIs. She also struck out five of 18 batters faced.

Morgan Skelley had a big day as well going 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and two runs scored in Game Two. She also hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning of Game One that put the Crimson Storm away.

Kindra Gregory improved to 4-1 on the season as she held SNU scoreless through seven innings in Game One and allowed only six hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

The Drovers prepare to travel to Savannah, Ga., for a weekend appearance in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Classic. The tournament starts with a 10 a.m. game against Tiffin University. USAO continues play at 4 p.m. versus William Woods University and 6 p.m. versus William Penn University.
