Softball Splits Road Doubleheader ALVA – Freshman pitcher Michelle Bauer picked up her sixth win of the season Monday afternoon as USAO won game two of its conference doubleheader at Northwestern Oklahoma 2-1. The team only managed a split, though, as NWOSU scored four runs in the final two innings of game one to win 4-1. After dropping game one, the University of Science and Arts jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kelsey MacInnes scored on a ground out by Morgan Thompson. Thompson led the team with two RBIs on the day. In the second inning, the Drovers took a 2-0 lead when Jennifer Bridgforth singled up the middle to score Amy Renault. In the bottom of the third, a two-out error allowed NWOSU’s Allie McSherry to score the Lady Rangers’ only run. Bauer had only allowed one hit until that point, and she held the home team scoreless until Marina Poddubskaya entered in the sixth to collect her second save of the season. USAO moved to 19-11 overall and 4-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, which is tied for third place behind Oklahoma City, St. Gregory’s and NWOSU (1-1 in the SAC). Thursday the team will again be on the road for a 2 p.m. start at Southern Nazarene. SNU is 13-11 overall and 2-4 in the SAC. The Drovers hope to avenge an earlier loss to the Crimson Storm and take the season series while trying to climb back into the national rankings. ### |
