Drovers Roll Over Evangels

OKLAHOMA CITY – With home runs from junior Leslie Beaty and sophomore Michelle Bauer, the University of Science and Arts dominated I-44 North rival Mid-America Christian 8-0 and 10-0 in Tuesday’s road doubleheader.

Everyone was swinging a hot bat as USAO improved to 18-14-1 overall and moved into fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 7-5 record.

Tuesday continued a hot streak for Beaty as she has gone 13-for-21 in her last six games with nine runs scored, five doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs. In game one, Beaty went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a homer. In game two, the junior shortstop posted a mere 2-for-4 performance, which kept her batting average near the .450 mark this season.

Beaty and Bauer provided the long ball Tuesday, but plenty of other Drover batters made some noise. Senior first baseman Sheena Raunikar posted a game-high three RBIs in game one, and senior centerfielder Jennifer Bridgforth went 2-for-3 at the plate.

In game two, Raunikar went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Cattlyn Crotty doubled home Raunikar and Bridgforth in the third.

Bauer earned the game-one win after pitching five scoreless innings allowing only three hits and striking out nine batters. Christina Wilson pitched two scoreless innings in relief allowing only one hit and striking out two batters.

Bauer started game two and pitched two scoreless innings giving up just one hit while striking out three batters. Felicia Gourley came on in relief and pitched three hitless innings with three strikeouts.

The Drovers travel to Shawnee Wednesday and Friday with doubleheaders against St. Gregory’s and Oklahoma Baptist, respectively.
