No student should avoid college because he or she doesn't have the money!
For students who need financial assistance to go to school, these pages will help. They are filled with information on scholarship and grant programs, as well as federal student loans which are available to all students enrolled at least half-time. Definitions vary for full-time or part-time status, depending on whether it is a 15-week term, a summer term, or for loan deferment purpose. Deferment of student loans vary according to loan program and enrollment status. Eligibility for aid is always based on current term enrollment status. Students with financial aid questions should consult the Office of Financial Aid.
The first step for every student seeking aid is to complete the USAO Financial Aid application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Both are available on campus in the Financial Aid Office. For the FAFSA, students will need to know USAO' s "Federal Title IV Code Number." Here it is: 003167. Once these applications are completed, eligibility can be determined from the resulting Student Aid Report (SAR).
The Office of Financial Aid, located in Troutt Hall, provides information to help students meet the cost of a college education. The Financial Aid Staff will determine the type and amount of assistance students may qualify for under various scholarship, grant, work-study, and loan programs. Every effort is made to secure funds for students with financial need.
