Comm 2133 PUBLIC SPEAKING AND PERSUASION * The study and practice of persuasive principles that influence and modify the belief and action of an audience. 3 hrs.
Comm 2343 FOUNDATIONS OF COMMUNICATION THEORY * A preliminary study of the basic theories of communication. 3 hrs.
Comm 2483 MASS COMMUNICATION * The study of how the mass media (books, newspapers, magazines, radio, television, cable, advertising, public relations, and the Internet) developed and interrelated; how each works; careers in the mass media and skills needed for those careers. 3 hrs.
Comm 2553 JOURNALISTIC METHODS * Basics of gathering and reporting news, including style, AP Stylebook, ethics, legal restraints, beat coverage, interviewing skills, and types of stories. 3 hrs.
Comm 2880 SPECIAL TOPICS *Special topics in communication. May be repeated for total of six (6) hours. 1-4 hrs.
Comm 2900 FORENSICS & SPEECH ACTIVITIES WORKSHOP * A guided study under supervision of faculty member; topic and methods of instruction and evaluation may vary. With change in topic and enrollment, may be repeated for total of six (6) hours. 1-6 hrs.

Comm 3133 DISCUSSION & SMALL GROUP DYNAMICS * Study and application of theories of discussion and communication in small groups. 3 hrs.
Comm 3273 SEMINAR IN COMMUNICATION THEORY * May be repeated with different content to maximum of nine (9) hrs. Topics include: (a) Oral Communication for Teachers, (b) The Nature of Public Relations, (3) Advertising, Copy, and Layout, (d) Administration of Forensics and/or Speech Activities, (e) Parliamentary Procedure, (f) Interpersonal Communication, (g) Intercultural Communication, and (h) Semantics. 3 hrs.
Comm 3330 NEWSPAPER & SPECIAL PUBLICATION * Pre-requisite: Comm 2553, concurrent enrollment in Comm 2553, or consent of instructor. Practical experience in newspaper production, including gathering and writing news stories, editing, and page layout. May be repeated for maximum of six (6) hours. 1-6 hrs.
Comm 4103 TECHNICAL WRITING * Principles of research and research writing based on library, field, case study, and experimental forms of research, data gathering, and analysis. 3 hrs.
Comm 4133 ARGUMENTATION & DEBATE * Study and practice of basic principles of persuasion in individual and group situations focusing on trends in consumerism, public advocacy, ombudsmanship, informal argument, and formal debate. 3 hrs.
Comm 4433 ADVANCED SEMINAR IN COMMUNICATION THEORY * Prerequisite: all major work completed or permission of instructor. Capstone course in written, visual, and oral communication for communication majors through individual study and public presentation of a Senior Project. 3 hrs.
Comm 4503 INTERNSHIP * Prerequisites:
consent of instructor before enrollment, minimum of 60 hours towards graduation,
and 3.5 gpa. Practicum in some phase of professional communication that
places student in "real world" environment. With change in topic and enrollment,
may be repeated for maximum of six (6) hours.
Comm 4763 METHODS OF TEACHING COMMUNICATION AND DRAMA *
Prerequisite: admission to Teacher Education, completion of all courses
in major and professional education above 3000 level, and 2.75 gpa in communication
studies. Education credit only. Analysis, organization, and presentation
of textual and other classroom materials plus theoretical and practical
problems of forensics and drama programs on secondary level. 3 hrs.
Comm 4880 SPECIAL TOPICS * Special topics in communication. May be repeated for total of six (6) hrs. 1-4 hrs.
