USAO Named No. 1 in the West, Among Best Deals in America
|

CHICKASHA – “Best in the
West!” is the celebration cry echoing from campus this week as USAO has been
named – for the fifth time -- the No. 1 undergraduate public college in the
Western United States by U.S. News and World Report’s America’s Best Colleges.
Again, that makes USAO the highest-ranked public college in Oklahoma in the
annual rankings by

Roddy:
'Hard Work Brings Sweet Rewards'

Commencement speaker Gretchen Roddy outlined her own keys to success on
Friday night, reinforcing each as she addressed graduates and their families at
the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
She encouraged graduates
first to set goals, a common practice of the world’s most successful people.

Roddy
to Address USAO Commencement
|
|
USAO
Regent Gretchen Roddy is scheduled to address 43 graduates and their families on
Aug. 5 during summer commencement ceremonies at the University of Science and
Arts of Oklahoma. The ceremony begins at 8 p.m. inside Troutt Hall Auditorium,
and will be broadcast live on USAO Channel 18.
Roddy is the newly elected chair of the USAO Board of Regents, which governs
Oklahoma’s public liberal arts college. (Full

accomplished in other endeavors – will join their best efforts to produce a
new art exhibition entitled “LA LA,” which is open now through Sept. 25 at

Featured in IAO Exhibition

Artist
Jacquelyn Knapp of Chickasha has scored another regional show.
Her work was featured this summer in a traveling exhibition, 24 Works on Paper, that toured Oklahoma.
For the last ten months, different styles of art
traveled around Oklahoma from one art gallery to the next. (Full

Brantley
Drafted In 27th Round
|
|
USAO
senior pitcher Brandon Brantley was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 27th
round of Major League Baseball’s Amateur Draft this summer.
Brandon, a native of Sterling, Okla., was a transfer from Redlands
Community College.

McCaleb
Sworn in as USAO Regent
|
|
Nationally
known public servant Neal McCaleb was sworn in on Tuesday as the newest member
of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Board of Regents.
In
Washington, McCaleb was appointed by President George Bush to head the Bureau of
Indian Affairs as assistant secretary of the Interior.
He also served eight years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and
with the Chickasaw Tribe as a banking official.
He was appointed to the USAO Board by Gov. Brad Henry and confirmed by
the Oklahoma Senate on May 23.

'USAO Team' Joins Kids' Place Project
|
|
More than 150
students, staff and faculty from the University of Science and Arts joined
hundreds of volunteers citywide in building Kids’ Place at Centennial Park
during the week of June 6-11. Citywide,
more than $150,000 was raised in private donations to erect the park, designed
by a committee of local children and volunteers. (Full
