BRANTLEY DRAFTED in 27TH ROUND

USAO senior pitcher Brandon Brantley was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 27th round of Major League Baseball’s Amateur Draft this summer.  Brandon, a native of Sterling, Okla., was a transfer from Redlands Community College.

Brandon had an outstanding senior year for the Drovers.  He compiled an 8-2 record with a 4.46 ERA.  On the year, Brandon pitched 72 2/3 innings, gave up 82 hits, 36 earned runs, 29 walks, and led the team with 76 strikeouts.

“Brandon was a huge impact on the team’s success this year,” said USAO Head Baseball Coach L.J. Powell.  “Dedication and hard work has paid off for Brandon, we will not only miss his abilities, but also his leadership qualities he brought to the field daily.  If I had 15 guys with Brandon’s character I would play anybody, anywhere.”

Brandon is currently pitching in the pioneer league for the Idaho Falls Chukars.  Brandon has started four games and has pitched 13 1/3 innings.  Information about Brandon’s career and ongoing success is available on the Internet at www.minorleaguebaseball.com.  On that site, reachers can click on the Idaho Falls Chukars, under the select a team icon.
