Men Place 3 on All-SAC Lists
USAO seniors Wayne Gibson and Keith Miller earned
All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors this season, officials announced
this week. Junior Nate Foster earned recognition for his efforts in the
classroom.
Because of his on-court presence and humble attitude,
Gibson was one of three players presented with the SAC Sportsmanship
Award. Others receiving the award were Brandon
Jones of Lubbock Christian and Corey Humphrey of
St. Gregory’s.
Gibson was also named to the All-SAC first
team, along with Oklahoma Christian’s Jarred Merrill, John Brown's
Brandon Cole, Southern Nazarene's Mouhamadou Diallo, Lubbock Christian's
Jared Fears.
Gibson, a 6-foot-5 forward from Fort
Washington, Md., was the Drovers’ leading scorer at 20.3 points and
leading rebounder at 6.9 boards per game. He finished third in the SAC in
scoring and eighth in rebounding. Gibson was also among the NAIA’s top
10 scorers for much of the season.
Miller, a 5-10 guard from Tulsa, was named an
All-SAC honorable mention. He led USAO at 4.3 assists per game, while
averaging 9.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest. In addition, Miller was
tied for sixth in the SAC in assists.
A 6-1 guard from Norman, Foster was named to
the SAC All-Academic team for maintaining a 3.8 grade-point average as
biology/pre-med major. He was among the team leaders at 83.3 percent from
the free throw line, and averaged 1.9 points per game.
OC’s Merrill, 6-9 senior forward from
Abilene, Texas, led the Eagles to the 2004-05 regular season SAC title,
leading the conference with 24 points and 10.3 rebounds. Oklahoma
Christian's Dan Hays was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagles
to the top of the SAC.
Walyand Baptist's DeJuan Davis was named
Newcomer of the Year. Patrick Jones of St. Gregory's was named Freshman of
the Year. Tramain Davis of Northwestern was named SAC Defensive Player of
the Year.
