Coulibally,
Oman Make All-Region Team
More postseason honors continue to come in for the USAO
men’s soccer team. Senior Nene Coulibally and freshman Jonathan Oman
were named to the All-Region VI team, officials announced this week.
This is Coulibally’s second time on the All-Region list,
while Oman is making his first appearance. Both players are now qualified
to receive NAIA All-American honors, when the list is released in the
coming weeks.
Coulibally, a 5-foot-10 forward from Bamako, Mali, was
second on the team in scoring with 24 points, including a team-high 11
goals and two assists. He was also named second-team All-Conference this
season. In 2002, Coulibally was named the Sooner Athletic Conference
Offensive Player of the Year.
A 6-0 defender from St. Edmunds, England, Oman finished
with four points on one goal and two assists. He started 20-of-22 teams
this season, and was named first-team All-Conference earlier this month.
Coulibally and Oman helped lead USAO to its second
straight SAC tournament championship, and berth in the Region VI
tournament. The Drovers finished 13-8-1 overall and third in the SAC at
3-3. USAO’s season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to No. 14 Southern
Nazarene last Friday in the regional tournament.
Region VI is made up of teams from the Sooner Athletic and
Red River conferences. Eleven of the 14 players on the All-Region team are
from the SAC, while the other three are from the RRAC.
Other All-Region team members include goalkeepers Pablo
Fernandez, John Brown, Ark., and Caleb Mullins, Oklahoma Christian;
forwards Dominique Nayaga, Southern Nazarene, Daniel Hermosillo, Texas
A&M-International, and Matt Clark, OC.
Also, midfielders are Thomas Siranga, SNU, Jose Melendez,
Texas Wesleyan, Daniel Agina, SNU, Fabio Perez, Oklahoma Baptist;
defenders are Darko Naumoski, SNU, Robert Oguda, SNU, and Mark Lukowiecki,
College of the Southwest.
