Yager Earns All-America Honor
KANSAS
CITY, Kan. – Drover center Nikki Yager
capped her collegiate career by being named NAIA All-American
Honorable Mention this week following the conclusion of the national
tournament.
Yager, a native of Oologah, led
the University of Science and Arts in scoring with 14.7 points per
game, and she led the country in field goal percentage. For the
season, she hit 172-of-247 from the floor for 69.6 percent.
She finished her career as a First-Team All-Sooner
Athletic Conference selection and scored 673 points, grabbed 409
rebounds and started every game for the past two seasons. She scored
in double figures in 24 of 28 games, and she posted 20 points or more
in five games including a career-high of 28 points against Lubbock
Christian.
The 6-foot-1 post player earned
the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the
Drovers to three straight wins early in the season. Yager averaged
20.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, three blocks and 1.3 steals per game as
USAO beat Bethany College, Friends University and Southwestern College
on the road.
She shot 87 percent from the
field for the week (26-of-30) and 82 percent from the line (9-of-11).
Yager set a career high for points on consecutive nights with 20
points against Friends and then 27 points against Southwestern, which
she later broke against LCU.
USAO finished the season 15-14 overall and received
votes for the final NAIA national top-25 poll.
