Yager Leads USAO to Road Wins

WINFIELD, Kan. – Led by back-to-back 20-point nights from Nikki Yager, the University of Science and Arts downed two Kansas teams over the weekend to improve to 5-0 on the season.

USAO will put its perfect record on the line tonight at home against Langston beginning at 6 p.m.

Yager, a senior center from Oolagah, cashed in for 20 points and six rebounds in Friday’s 75-60 win over Friends University, and she posted a career high 27 points and seven rebounds in Saturday’s 79-63 win over Southwestern College. For the two games, she connected on 20-of-26 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.

Junior guard Sasha Ferguson also put up career numbers in both games. She scored 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting against Friends, and she scored 14 points and added three steals against Southwestern.

The Drovers had three players score in double figures in each game. Yager and Ferguson were complimented by freshman Charite Lewis and junior Kartesha Rambo. Lewis scored 12 points and had four rebounds and a steal on Friday while Rambo hit three 3-pointers and dished out three assists to go with her 11 points on Saturday.

Currently, USAO has the best record of all the Sooner Athletic Conference teams. Only No. 3 Oklahoma City (4-0) has an unblemished record.
