Second-Half Run Spurs Win

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Using a 17-1 second-half run, the USAO women turned the tide Thursday night picking up a 63-55 win at Wayland Baptist.

Just two minutes into the second half WBU increased its halftime lead to 32-29, but the Drovers exploded with 15 straight points led by a 3-pointer from Kartesha Rambo that gave USAO its final lead of 34-32 with 17:25 remaining.

After being up by 13 points two different times in the second half, WBU managed to trim the Drover lead down to 53-50 with 4:02 remaining. But senior Nikki Yager answered with six straight points as USAO finished off the home team. Yager finished with 11 points and nine rebounds on 3-of-4 from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul line.

Lamitra Daggs and Sha’Donna Stewart posted 12 points and four assists each to lead the Drovers to an 11-7 record overall and 4-4 mark in conference. Lindsey Monroe added nine points and seven rebounds while Ferguson finished with eight points.

Saturday USAO has one of its toughest tests of the season at No. 5 and league-leading Lubbock Christian.
