Second-Half Run Spurs Win
PLAINVIEW, Texas – Using a 17-1 second-half run, the USAO women turned
the tide Thursday night picking up a 63-55 win at Wayland Baptist.
Just
two minutes into the second half WBU increased its halftime lead to
32-29, but the Drovers exploded with 15 straight points led by a
3-pointer from Kartesha Rambo that gave USAO its final lead of 34-32
with 17:25 remaining.
After
being up by 13 points two different times in the second half, WBU
managed to trim the Drover lead down to 53-50 with 4:02 remaining. But
senior Nikki Yager answered with six straight points as USAO finished
off the home team. Yager finished with 11 points and nine rebounds on
3-of-4 from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul line.
Lamitra Daggs and Sha’Donna Stewart posted 12 points and four assists
each to lead the Drovers to an 11-7 record overall and 4-4 mark in
conference. Lindsey Monroe added nine points and seven rebounds while
Ferguson finished with eight points.
Saturday USAO has one of its toughest tests of the season at No. 5 and
league-leading Lubbock Christian.
