KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released its 32-team bracket for the 28th Annual NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship. Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. will host the event on March 19-25, 2008.
The tournament will start with the first round games on Wednesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 20 and will end with the championship game on Tuesday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m.
The first 30 games of the Championships will be video-streamed live on the Internet, while the National Championship Game will air live nationwide on College Sports Television (CSTV).
In 2007 Lambuth (Tenn.) defeated Cumberland (Tenn.), 63-50, to win the first NAIA title in program history. The Eagles are just the fourth different team to claim a title over the past 14 seasons. Lambuth, seeded fifth in the tournament bracket, is the lowest-seeded champion since the NAIA implemented bracketed quarters in 2003.
Southern Nazarene (Okla.) has captured the most championships with seven and will be making its 17th trip to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
Union (Tenn.) is making its 19th appearance in the tournament, most by any Division I women's basketball teams. The Lady Bulldogs are perfect on the season with 32-0 record.
