Drovers Fall Cold in Second Half
BETHANY – Despite three players scoring in double figures, the University of Science and Arts’ women fell on the road Monday night 91-50 to No. 14 Southern Nazarene. The loss drops USAO to 13-10 overall and 9-7 in the league. The Drovers are still in fifth place but only a half game ahead of Oklahoma Christian.
USAO started off the game with four straight 3-pointers and built a 22-20 lead with 6:45 left in the first half. SNU answered by closing the first half on a 15-8 run to hold a 35-30 halftime advantage.
After starting the second half with five straight points, SNU stepped on the gas midway through the half to essentially seal up the win. USAO did not convert a field goal for more than eight minutes while the Crimson Storm went on a 19-6 run. Yesi Castillo’s layup with 8:11 left cut SNU’s 25-point lead to 65-42.
There would be no miraculous comeback this time for the Drovers as SNU continued to pile on the points outscoring USAO 26-8 over the final eight minutes of the game.
Kartesha Rambo scored a team-high 11 points including three 3-pointers while J’Nay Vann and Castillo finished with 10 points each. USAO travels to Rogers State Thursday before hosting John Brown and St. Gregory’s in the final home games of the season Saturday and Feb. 21.###
