Women Start Season
With a Bang
CHICKASHA – Three Drovers scored in double
figures as the University of Science and Arts put away Bethany College
82-77 in Tuesday’s season opener at USAO Fieldhouse.
Senior Katie Sterling scored a team-high 27
points including four three-pointers. Sterling, along with teammates
Stephanie Russell and Nikki Yager accounted for 56 of the Drovers
points.
After being tied 37-37 at halftime, the Drovers
connected on 53 percent from the floor in the second half to build a
lead going into the final minutes. Free throws down the stretch by
Sterling, Russell and Elaine Contreras iced the team’s first win.
USAO will be on the road for the remainder of
November. Friday the team will play Central Christian College, Kan.,
at Mid-America Christian University in Moore. Tipoff is scheduled for
6 p.m. The team will play Mid-America in Moore beginning at 8 p.m.
Saturday.
The women will return home for a 6 p.m. game
against Mid-America on Dec. 2.
