Drovers Downed
by No. 23 LCU
LUBBOCK, Texas – Still with the bad taste in its mouth from being
upset by the University of Science and Arts in early February, No. 23
Lubbock Christian stormed out to a first-half lead and cruised to a
91-45 win in the rematch Thursday night.
Stephanie Russell scored a team-high 17 points including four
three-pointers, and Katie Sterling posted 14 points herself. But LCU
had little trouble getting the ball in the basket all night as the
home team hit over 50 percent for the game including a whopping 61.5
percent from three-point land.
LCU actually outscored the Drovers only 24-21 on three-point buckets,
but the Lady Chaps’ control of the paint was complete. By the end of
the game, LCU held a 55-22 rebounding advantage including a 17-5
advantage on offensive rebounds.
The Drovers look to snap a three-game skid Saturday afternoon at
Wayland Baptist in the regular-season finale. USAO is sixth in the
Sooner Athletic Conference with a record of 7-10 and an overall record
of 14-12. Northwestern Oklahoma is a game back and will play LCU on
Saturday.
