Continue for Women
CHICKASHA – Every
Drover on the roster scored in Friday night’s route of Mid-America
Christian 94-67 as the University of
Science
and Arts improved to 7-1 on the season with its third straight win.
Scoring wasn’t a
problem for either team with eight players in double figures and each
team shooting well over 40 percent from the field. But the Drovers’
defense caused 21 turnovers and blocked nine shots as USAO jumped
ahead early and cruised through the second half.
Lindsey Monroe
led all scorers with 19 points. Stephanie Russell made up for some
first-half misses by knocking down four three-pointers in second half
to post 14 points. Russell also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds
and dished out six assists. Katie Sterling and Christina Brown rounded
out the list of double-figure scorers with 12 and 10 points,
respectively.
Desiree Jones
added some second-half excitement and seniors Nikki Yager and Nicole
Sherman controlled the paint. Jones, a speedy freshman from Tulsa,
played 19 minutes scoring six points to go along with nine assists –
the highest total of the season for any Drover. Yager and Sherman
scored nine points and had three blocked shots each.
MACU was led
offensively by Courtney Sorrels’ 18 points and 10 rebounds. Treasure
McCoy posted 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Evangels dropped to 4-6
after the team’s second loss of the season to USAO.
USAO has almost a
month off before playing its final non-conference game of the season
at home Dec. 30 against Tabor College, Kan. Tipoff is scheduled for 4
p.m.
