Softball Scores Two for Soccer

CHICKASHA – Scoring her first two collegiate goals, Kelsey MacInnes was the difference in USAO’s win over John Brown 2-0 Friday afternoon at Drover Field.

The real story is that MacInnes skipped softball practice to do it.

The shortstop/forward from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia joined the team two weeks ago, but it took her until a Friday the 13th game to score her first goals of the season. She could have scored a few more with four total shots and three shots on goal.

Amanda Caldeira assisted on the first goal as the University of Science and Arts jumped to a 1-0 in the 30th minute. MacInnes scored an insurance goal on a breakaway just after halftime lifting the Drovers to an 8-3-2 record overall and a 4-3-2 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

USAO is comfortably in fourth place in the SAC after beating fifth-place Northwestern Oklahoma on Tuesday and sixth-place JBU on Friday. The team will host St. Gregory’s at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
