Women Win Finale

CHICKASHA – The Canadian connection of Kelsey to Shannon MacInnes for the only goal of the day came with just 17 seconds left in the first half as USAO handled Oklahoma Baptist 1-0 at Drover Field Tuesday.

USAO avenged a 4-0 loss earlier in the season to finish the regular season at 11-4-3 overall and 7-4-3 in the league. The 1-1 tie at Southern Nazarene last Friday was the only thing that separated USAO and OBU for third place in the SAC.

The Drovers’ playoff hopes rest with Bacone College – which lost its season opener USAO 2-0. Results were not known at press time.

The Drovers outshot OBU 8-5 total and 5-2 in shots on goal. Freshmen Destiny Rachal and Emily Stephens combined for team’s eighth shutout of the season.

USAO’s 11 wins this season tied the 2001 team for the most in school history, and its four losses rank as the fewest in school history. The Drovers only allowed 17 goals this season – a new team record.
